World Council of Churches - Stewards Programme 2012
The following letter is from Paul Gehrs, Assisant to the National Bishop - ELCIC, Justice and Leadership and also Rev Andre Lavergne, Assistant to the National Bishop - ELCIC , Ecumenical and Interfaith.
The national office would like to make you aware of the opportunity for young adults to apply to be stewards for the World Council of Churches.
The complete details are below.
This is the type of opportunity that could be formative, if it happened for the right person at the right time in her or his life.
Ideally, local leaders would work with a successful applicant to integrate such an experience into local ministry and leadership expressions.
You will see that anyone is free to apply.
Ultimately, they need a "letter of recommendation from your church / national council of churches / ecumenical youth organisation."
In this context, "church" means denomination, such as the ELCIC.
Following consultation with synodical and congregational leadership, the national office is willing to provide a letter of recommendation for suitable candidates.
If you read through the application form, you will see that successful applicants must commit to covering their own travel costs.
If an ELCIC member is selected to be a steward, the ELCIC would consider making a contribution to these travel costs.
Feel free to distribute this information widely through synod networks,
and to share it personally with those who you think would be great applicants.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I; send me!" (Isaiah 6:8)
