Redesigning the Tree of Life: Synthetic Biology and the Future of Food

Dear Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada,

On behalf of the Canadian Council of Churches and the World Council of Churches, I would like to invite you to an exciting participatory learning conference about synthetic biology, the future of food, and sustainable agriculture.

From November 2-4, 2017 in Toronto, we will be gathering to learn from expert presentations, build relationships, and organize for advocacy. Join us for Redesigning the Tree of Life: Synthetic Biology and the Future of Food, as we eat together, reflect together, learn together, and plan together. I have included a program outline of the conference, and tickets can be purchased at redesigningthetreeoflife.eventbrite.ca.

Additionally, on the evening of November 3rd from 7-9pm, we have a free event open to the public called Redesigning Life: Synthetic Biology, New Genetic Engineering and Ethics. It will be held at the YWCA Toronto at 87 Elm Street, and all are welcome. This event features Drew Endy, Professor of Bioengineering at Stanford University, and Jim Thomas, Technology Critic, Co-Executive Director of ETC Group, along with dynamic commentators.

Your assistance in promoting these two events is greatly appreciated. They promise to be important occasions, and I hope to see you there!

Please feel free to reach out at any time with questions or comments.

Sincerely,

Kaeli Sweigard
Communications Officer, The Canadian Council of Churches
